My Wallet + App Review

My wallet + is an iPhone app similar to a banking check book this app helps you with organizing and tracking your expenses. My Wallet Plus is a great app for people who would like to know in general where their money went, this app takes the information from your receipts, which you enter in and keeps them stored on you iPhone, iTouch, or iPad. This app has a couple of good features to make it worth the money to purchase it. One interesting feature for MY Wallet Plus is the currency converter, which converts future and all previous expenses, this comes in handy if you have made transactions or if you are receiving money from a different country. Reoccurring expenses is a big plus for My Wallet Plus the feature lets you set up dates for when you need to pay for something every month like an electric bill, or mark when you will receive some money like when you receive a paycheck every week . All this information can be exported to Excel 2007, Excel 2008 for mac users, exports to CSV and HTML as well. There are 8 different categories to make it easier to specify where your money is going whether it is an electric bill or a pair of shows, entering in the data will be easy and quick. I like how this app looks simple and runs smoothly without crashing. My wallet plus does not have a password lock which is a very important part of any app dealing with your personal information for privacy reasons just in case you device is lost or stolen. A feature that was added in an update was the ability to view more details from the overview screen, simply swipe to view the information and be sure to swipe directly over the category you want to see. This app consumed little battery and I believe it is worth the investment for quicker money tracking. Overall My Wallet Plus gets 4 out of 5!

Animals On Board App Review

If you enjoy exciting games like Angry Birds and would like your child to have fun playing iPhone games as well, then Animals On Board is the just the game you want to get for the holidays. Animals On Board is a trajectory and balance game that stars you as Noah, your main goal is to get as many cute animals on to the boat as you can without tipping the boat over. Addiction to this game lies in the time trials in my opinion which consists of obtaining the greatest height, amount of animals and number of pairs in 60 seconds. Two player modes allows you to take turns with whoever is next to you, only downside is you only have 9 seconds to pass it on and toss the animals.

The Game Center holds the online leader boards which can be checked by week, current, day or all time for Total Score, Free Play, and Time Attack with Animals, Height, and Pairs. Achievements can also be viewed in the Game Center. As you earn points in the different game modes, more animals can be purchased when you reach a certain amount, or when you select the zoo under the More section. The training section only has instructions and explains a little bit more about different things in the game, I was expecting maybe a non-timed or non-tip mode but regular game play is good enough.

Animals On Board runs fairly smooth overall, in between loading the next game there is only a 3 second pause, the game has not crashed on me once. I love the music that plays in the background along with some rather entertaining sound effects. The animation is ideal for this type of themed game for all ages. The basic setup for this game was done just right, each animal has a different weight which makes it easier to figure out what and where each animal should go. One good strategy for this game would be to make a line straight across the boat just in case you misjudge a throw later on in the game. I must say different backgrounds would be nice or weather conditions, and I was most impressed by the battery usage only 7% consumption after 30 minutes. Overall this game is a good buy and for only .99 cents it well worth it, you will not be disappointed.

Star Battalion App Review

So far everything that I have played from Game Loft has been nothing but great when it comes to pleasing the customer, well prepare for another great game called Star Battalion. This game made me question which was better Star Fox 64 or Star Battalion and I honestly say that Star Battalion is better and a good bang for your buck. Star Battalion sets you off on a mission to save the innocent and perfect your flying skills.

First off the use of Gyroscope function did wonders for this game, every movement was very responsive and the sensitivity of the accelerometer was comfortably adjustable. There was a few problems I noticed, the game has crashed multiple times when ending a chapter or during loading. There was some lagging going on when there was a lot of action going on. The last problem I noticed was a little strange during some points of the game an enemy ship or a companion would go through an object and on one of the levels a friendly ship just spun in circle aiming down in midair till the next objective. Request timed out is a common message you might get if you are trying to play online threw Game Loft live, no worries though just create a game to play and just wait patiently someone will find you in no time.

You will fight in a squad of three against the enemy who will be well equipped and ready to take you out. As the story progress’s a selection of ships will be given to choose from, each one will be different from the other by shape, size and attributes. Your primary weapon will be the laser gun and secondary is missiles. When using the lasers just press and hold the fire button, for a while I was tapped it a lot which was not too good for the fingers. With the missiles make sure you have a clear curve or a nice straight shot or sometimes the enemy ships will simply dodge them. Switching to the cockpit view may help some when trying to get a perfect shot in, and is very comfortable for me since I like to see play from a more realistic point of view.

The Story line was well done and backed up with an archival information section on the main screen which will be represented by a ship icon. The graphics in this game is beautiful and crisp. Besides the minor hick ups and the often crash this game has a bright future in my book, but the main problem I mentioned held back its overall rating along with a whopping 37% battery consumption. Star Battalion gets a strong 3 out of 5!

Moon Base: Lander App Review

“Moon Base Lander to mission control, we have just landed and we are waiting for you to board your iTouch’s, iPhone’s and iPad’s. The assigned missions need to be completed successfully by a Senior Apprentice, can you work your way through the ranks and live up to my expectations?”

Moon Base Lander is a space pod navigation game that gives you the power to control the thrust and direction along your decent. Created by The Ant Ranch this game utilizes the accelerometer for tilting your pod and activating your thrusters. Moon Base Lander has only slightly impressed me with the actual game play. I was expecting more from this game with at least more challenges on each level, for example flying debris and a point of view from the cockpit with a display to show in general where the target areas are for the landing zones.

Good points to this game would be the gauges you have for reference while playing, Damage, Fuel, Velocity, and your pods directional Roll. Stats are provided in a helpful way after each level to help you see how good you have done and see if you’re improving, for example I look at the fuel spent to decide on which area to land on. If I used more than 200 on a landing most likely I would go for the green zone to save on fuel for the upcoming rounds. Graphics were not the best and also not the worst let’s just say they can do a little bit better and the hints and instructions at the beginning of the game are simplified more. Calibration is key when you have to put the game down and come back to it, you cannot rotate the game screen to change how you hold your apple device to play sideways. Be sure to find a comfortable position while playing this is a very addicting game and you will not want to put it down.

A scoreboard will be provided to keep your hopes up and keep you persistent, this game is challenging just stay calm threw out the levels, your pod and high score depends on it. Keep in mind before you by this game, Moon Base: Lander is an old school arcade type with no online interaction and no multi–task.

The Rundown

  • Ok Graphics
  • Needs better POV
  • Controls need to be spiced up
  • More obstacles
  • And some actually soundtracks for game play, something other than wind chimes

Overall I give Moon Base: Lander a 3 out of 5! Good day Space Ace!

Waves: Survivor App Review

Waves: Survivor is a very entertaining game that puts you in the middle of the ocean with no food, just hope and an occasional mermaid to lend a hand. If you like forward progress games like Dead Runner, Waves: Survivor will give you a paddle for your money with an addicting setup and online leader-boards to motivate you to stay alive longer. Stay afloat and be cautious of the rising and falling tides that carry dangerous puffer fish, piranhas and killer sharks.

This game has simple controls for easy play, a forward and backward paddle button, a pressure sensitive jump button and a wide target area for attacking with the paddle. You start off as a survivor in the middle of the ocean and work your way through the quickly changing days and nights, the goal of this game is to obtain as many gold coins as possible and fend off the attacking fish for as long as you can with an occasional splash of water in your boat. A meter will also be displayed at the top of the screen to show you how far a shark is from you, the closer the shark gets the faster you will need to paddle. The Survivor can rock out any time you like which is very funny at times, all you do is tap the head of the survivor on the shark distance meter and he will pick up his paddle guitar and give you a show. There is also a tilt function for riding the waves which comes in handy when you stumble across a fortune. The mini challenge in this game keeps you on your toes, if you happen to drop into the water you will have to swim up to your boat. Be careful though there are bombs in the water that you will have to avoid by tilting around them as you swim back up.

The Rundown

Basic graphics keep Waves: Survivor running fluidly and smooth even with the awesome wave mechanics. Audio can get annoying at times when fighting off fish but not so much to not make you want to play. Using the posting function for Facebook and Twitter is hesitant and slow and loading time for the game takes a good 20 seconds, not bad though for a one time load. I would not mind seeing some better graphics in an update and maybe a story line or a challenge threw out the days more or less something like “Overnight a ship passed by and dropped off some coins a hundred yards ahead try to obtain them”

Overall this game is very entertaining and challenging. Would I recommend this game? Yes, I give it a 3 out of 5.
