The TWIT.am Application that streams Twit.tv Live.

TWIT.am is a wonderful little iPod Touch and iPhone application that allows you to listen to Leo Laporte's live stream which he broadcasts most weekdays live, and his show on Saturday's along with Twit on Sundays.  During his off air time, Leo often plays re runs of his shows.  The TWIT.am application is all you need to connect to the "Twit Cottage" from anywhere you and your iPhone are.  Not only does this application stream the live audio stream, it also has a built in chat client, pre determined bookmarks, and a shedule calendar.  Leo Laporte was the host and guru behind a couple of TechTv shows Cal For Help and The Screen Savers.

The first screen you are presented with is Leo's google calendar to view whats on now and coming up.  This is a really great touch as it is really useful to know whats on during his live broadcasts.  It would be great if Leo implements a real time calendar so we can find out what is upcoming, even when Leo is off air.

During his live show on Saturday, you can click the Call Leo button, and TWIT.am will place a phone call to Leo's 1-88-88-ASK-LEO number.  Something in itself simple, but very well implemented.  If you also click on the Bug Eye icon you will see the IceCast server status.

The built in chat client works very well, and logs directly into the Twit chat room, with a pre registered user name, or one you make up on the fly.  TWIT.am appears very stable as long as you are running 2.2.1 firmware.  We found out that previous firmware versions will not output sound.  This is a true radio in your pocket experience connected directly to Twit.

Sound quality is very good and on our WiFi connection we had absolutely no streaming issues.  I am also very happy to announce that the same hold perfectly true on both 3G and Edge network.  Quality remained constant, crystal clear and unbroken.

If you are a Twit network fan, this application is a must have.
