Marines Sharpshooter By Groove Media Inc. is the number one sniping game on the iphone, ipod touch and ipad. The scenario for this game is simple your character is a member of an elite American military strike force fighting the complicated war against terrorist around the world. Inserted behind enemy’s lines your job is to infiltrate, discover, and sabotage any and all terrorist’s operations. You will be hidden every mission until you have taken the first shot, from your outpost. Marine Sharpshooter has 5 big missions, each with over a dozen combat missions, several different scenarios mains ones are hostage rescue and target assassination missions. You have several rifles to choose from the SR-25, M-82, M-40 and the M-14. There 3 game modes to select from as well, Story mode, Arcade mode and Quick play for hours of fun.

In game play after you have you orders for your mission or objective, you will have an open area of say a town or a village, the terrorist locations will be indicated by small red circles which you can select by tapping them. The green bar in the top left of corner of this screen is your health, after eliminating the enemy of an area you will see that your health has gone down if you have been wounded, your health will regenerate after 15 to 30 seconds. Time factors in each mission and score, if time runs out you fail the mission, if you use less time in the mission your score ranks higher. At any time you can return to the main menu but the mission will only be saved not your current progress of the sections cleared in an area. In combat you will have the health bar, time remaining, points, number of enemy’s, ammunition count, concentration button and trigger button. Simply tilt or drag you finger to navigate the scope, tap the trigger to fire, head-shots are 1,000 points and other shots are 200. Each shot missed is a deduction of 200 points.

From loading to selection of a mode to play in the app runs smoothly, there is only a little hesitation when going to a terrorist’s area for combat. When engaging the enemy with more than five tangos and all of them firing at the same time the game lags for a second at the most. The rest is for your pleasure to explore in the game; there is also an expansion pack for the Marine Sharpshooter titled Black Ops. This can be found on you itunes store for download. I recommend this game for anyone who likes a first person shooter for the iphone, for hardcore gamers don’t expect this game to be perfect the iphone is only a hand-held device.
