Moon Base: Lander App Review

“Moon Base Lander to mission control, we have just landed and we are waiting for you to board your iTouch’s, iPhone’s and iPad’s. The assigned missions need to be completed successfully by a Senior Apprentice, can you work your way through the ranks and live up to my expectations?”

Moon Base Lander is a space pod navigation game that gives you the power to control the thrust and direction along your decent. Created by The Ant Ranch this game utilizes the accelerometer for tilting your pod and activating your thrusters. Moon Base Lander has only slightly impressed me with the actual game play. I was expecting more from this game with at least more challenges on each level, for example flying debris and a point of view from the cockpit with a display to show in general where the target areas are for the landing zones.

Good points to this game would be the gauges you have for reference while playing, Damage, Fuel, Velocity, and your pods directional Roll. Stats are provided in a helpful way after each level to help you see how good you have done and see if you’re improving, for example I look at the fuel spent to decide on which area to land on. If I used more than 200 on a landing most likely I would go for the green zone to save on fuel for the upcoming rounds. Graphics were not the best and also not the worst let’s just say they can do a little bit better and the hints and instructions at the beginning of the game are simplified more. Calibration is key when you have to put the game down and come back to it, you cannot rotate the game screen to change how you hold your apple device to play sideways. Be sure to find a comfortable position while playing this is a very addicting game and you will not want to put it down.

A scoreboard will be provided to keep your hopes up and keep you persistent, this game is challenging just stay calm threw out the levels, your pod and high score depends on it. Keep in mind before you by this game, Moon Base: Lander is an old school arcade type with no online interaction and no multi–task.

The Rundown

  • Ok Graphics
  • Needs better POV
  • Controls need to be spiced up
  • More obstacles
  • And some actually soundtracks for game play, something other than wind chimes

Overall I give Moon Base: Lander a 3 out of 5! Good day Space Ace!
