Simplify Music 2

Simplify media was one of the first applications that I personally used very often.  The idea around Simplify Music 2 is that it streams music content from your desktop PC to your iPhone or ipod Touch device.  Thus theoretically giving you a much larger library than you can fit onto you 8/16/32 GB device.

Along with the AppStore Application, a desktop utility must also be installed, which is available free.  This simple utility acts a basic server that allows your mobile device to connect, see and stream music files.  There is an option in the software to either choose a folder on a drive to be the source information for Simplify Media, or you can ask the utility to communicate with iTunes and use the iTunes library to be the source of your library.

Using Simplify Media - Music could not be easier.  Once setup on the desktop, which literally consists of setting up an account, choosing your content source and then giving your service a name.  When you launch Simply Music 2 on the iPhone or iPod Touch you are asked to log in to your account, using the same credentials as your set up on your desktop software.  After a short wait, your music library will be displayed and ready for streaming.

Simplify Music 2 is not limited to WiFi only connectivity, which has become almost common practice lately with most streaming media applications.  Streaming over Edge and 3G networks appeared to be solid and worked very well.

A very nice feature that is available from Simplify Music 2 was the automatic lyric look up.  Cover art and artist bios are also pushed to your device too, giving you a very nice presentation.

Stability was solid and ease of use really could not be simpler, and i highly recommend this application to anyone that has a large library of music.

As a bonus that is not directly related to the appstore app, but simply media desktop client also allows you to invite up to 30 users to share your library.  This is a wonderful feature as in my network we have a media server that stores the entire family's music collection.  Simplify Media has made the desktop application compatible with multiple music players :

• iTunes on Mac or Windows
• Front Row on Mac
• Winamp on Windows
• WMP 11 on Vista
• Rhythmbox on Ubuntu

This allows any one of those software application that has an Internet connection to connect to your music library.

Limitations are far and few, but it will not stream DRM protected content, also reciently, the Lyric page lookup has become more restricted with lookups giving you a licensing warning.

Simplify Music 2 is an absolute must have.
