Apple iSlate?
Are Apple, Inc. about to release the highly anticipated tablet device? I just can't imagine Apple not releasing this soon, as soon as January this year. Some predictions from various sources are hinting at an 8 inch screen that will, I believe, be something like a hybrid mac osx with iPod touch interface. I don't think this will be a replacement mac but a more powerful locked down device.
With both Microsoft and HP introducing tablets this week at CES, it does appear that the Apple tablet looks more and more of a reality. I am not a total mac fanboy but I just have more confidence that the Apple branded tablet will be a better more friendly device.
A few rumors that I have heard :
- Multiple wireless carriers?
- 8-10 inch screen with high resolution (oled)?
- Incredible user interface that will not be expected?
- Front facing camera?
- Cortex A9 CPU?
- AppStore integration
- iSlate name?
- January 26th announcement?
- Cost rumored to be $700-$1000
It sure will be exciting! More to come soon. |

FT.com today released an article saying Apple are poised to announce a new cheaper version of the iPhone on Monday at WWDC.
They are expecting either a $149 or $99 price point. Maybe a 4Gb version will be announced to put a product in the market that would be less than the Palm Pre being released on June 6th which will cost $199. |

Applications sharing in OS3, could that be possible?
News has just come out that with the new iPhone 3.0 software it may be possible for developers to allow software they write to be shared to another users device. We are not sure how this will work or function, but this could be a very interesting marketing system to pass and share apps. Google has been looking into this method of sharing and recommending applications, and until now the only option has been a crude send recommendation button that would trigger a simple email to be sent out with details about the application. It may be also possible to earn referrals of some kind down the road, that could really produce application sales. The main question would be how would Apple take its share of the pie if the application can be transferred from one device to another?

Looks like everything is just slotting right into place for a really slipstreamed WWDC. Apple just released iTunes 8.2 which is very important because it adds support for OS 3.0. The question is, how long will we have to wait for 3.0 software after WWDC?
You can get your iTunes update via Apple update, or from below :-

Quote "Initiatives will Deliver Faster Speeds, Enhancements to Mobile Broadband Performance, Availability" - AT&T
It appears that AT&T have released a press statement that confirms that they will be starting to roll out starting this year a faster 3G network and hopefully completed in 2011. This is great news and will be well received.
From Source:
"The upgrade to High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) 7.2 technology is part of AT&T’s plan for continued investments to deliver the nation’s best mobile broadband experience – the ideal combination of speed, coverage and best device line-up. AT&T today has the nation’s fastest 3G network and has attracted more than twice the number of smart phone users than any other competitor.
With its network built on the 3G UMTS technology that is commonly deployed throughout the world, AT&T can boost the speed of its mobile broadband network and offer a wide variety of devices to take advantage of it well in advance of 2011-2012, when most industry observers expect 4G LTE networks and device availability to scale. AT&T plans to begin LTE trials in 2010, with deployment beginning in 2011."
