Live Cams by Barry Egerter
Live Cams is an app for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad that gives the user the power to control public or private IP/PTZ cameras. There is 3000 preloaded camera locations included with Live Cams to start off with. Over 25 different preset categories are available to choose from, and the user also has the ability to add Cameras public or private.
On the main screen after start up the user has twelve cameras viewed on a single page by default, simply swipe to the right to see the next twelve cameras being displayed. Being that there is a lot of camera feeds going to your device there is a little load time for the cameras to display. There is a setting option that can be changed for the user to view one to twelve thumbnails on the main screen, on the one thumbnail view there is slight increase in loading time but it is very detailed for a thumbnail.
When viewing the actual camera in Live Cams the streaming runs moderately okay. When using the control feature the user will face the challenge of trying to get the right shot with patient maneuvering of the camera. The map in Live Cams comes up with a very smooth texture and detail, but sadly the user can only zoom in a limited distance. When searching for cameras you can narrow the search by the Camera Name, Category, Country, State/Region, Cameras (public or private) and Camera type. When the search is done, the results appear back on the main screen.
Adding a camera is selective, i don't know much about cameras and the brands, it is just that there is a lot of choices but no model numbers so it might be good for the experienced.
Here are the Manufacturers Supported for the app, Acti, Airlink 101, Axis Communications, Canon, Blue Iris, Cisco, Cow Key, D-link, Edimax, Evological, Foscam, Intellinet, IqinVision, Industrial Video and Control Co., JVC, Linsys, Mobotix, NetMedia, Panasonic, Pixord, Samsung Electronics, Sony, StarDot, Toshiba, Trendnet, United Digital, Veo, Eminent, Vivotek, Y-cam and Webcamxp.
I find this app to be worth $0.99, but nothing i would need. The app has closed on me once or twice but pretty stable. Everything is not so pleasurable for craftiness of the look and feel of the app and i was expecting a lot more. Cool to have but not to keep for me.
